Love all, serve all

Helsinki, 13 degrees

Today at a work event I heard about that Hard Rock Café is finally reaching Helsinki in August this year! There has been rumors flying around about it since April, but today at the event I got to meet some representatives from the Hard Rock Café in Gothenburg in Sweden so I finally realized that it's not merely a rumor, but it's really going to happen!

It's going to have a very central location, in the immediate city center, so if you ask me, it's not going to have any problems in finding customers. I'm excited since I've learned during the last four-five years that there is a true demand for this type of theme restaurants since visitors ask for it almost on a daily basis in the Tourist Information, summertime I would even say that there is somebody asking for it everyday, sometimes more than once.

I believe the chain restaurants' popularity is based on the fact that it sells so many collector items that one can buy from each city that one visits, a kind of mementos. Food seems to be only the second most important factor, and there, it's the simpleness of the food that works, since one knows what one gets. And let's face it- Hard Rock Cafés have stunning cocktails.

What are your experiences of Hard Rock Cafés - tumbs up or down? How have they worked in your cities?

Agent's Manual & Prada

Helsinki, 21 degrees

It is a time to look toward the future, without denying the past.

Last week was busy at work, but I did have a personal breakthrough as well. The brochure I've been working on since February finally came from the print house and I got to hold the first copy in my hand. I can't tell you what a feeling it evoked - a moment I'll cherish for the rest of my life, that's for sure.

If you want to have a look at the final brochure, you'll find it in pdf here. Some of my readers have called me patriotic about my city, I hope this brochure will clarify to you my dear readers why I love my city so much.

This week I've been inspired by Italian Prada which I've found in both Elle Finland and the Swedish Elle I picked up in Stockholm when I visited it some weeks ago. Next year the colorful fashion house will celebrate its 100th birthday, and it's well deserved if you ask me. Elle Finland calls it a dream factory, which I think is quite striking.

And nobody can forget the movie "The Devil wears Prada", filled with luxurious clothing. I think the head designer Miuccia Prada seems like a misterious lady with perfect timeless style.

Swedish Elle talks about Prada's history as well. I think it's amazing how the dresses seem current even though they belong to the older collections. True style never becomes old.

I especially like the dresses the fashion house has, as well as its shoes. What is your Prada favorite?

Be like the flower, turn your faces to the sun!

Helsinki, 18 degrees

TGIF! This beautiful sunny Friday one of Finland's most well-known interior and clothing brands Marimekko vitalized the most central park of Helsinki, the Esplanade Park, with its summer fashion show. The catwalk was built in the middle of the park so that as many as possible could witness the show!

Marimekko is all about colors, striking designs and originality - that's Marimekko in a nutshell! Unique about this fashion show was that there weren't models showcasing the clothes, but ballet dancers from the Finnish National Opera! Amazing!

All viewers got even giveaways from Marimekko: a book about the company, a bag and a toiletry kit!

This fashion truly put a smile upon my face - a royal start to the summer season!

Are you familiar with Marimekko?
