Copenhagen

Helsinki, 19 degrees

Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.

Probably you've been waiting for these, so here they are! The first photos from our city break to Copenhagen! We maybe only spent there three days, but we saw plentiful! Copenhagen was interesting, a  Nordic city with a European touch, definitely different from Helsinki and Stockholm!

I found it very easy to understand everything since written Danish is so close to Swedish, my mother tongue. I found it surprisingly easy to talk to Danish people, most of the people continued to speak Danish to us even though we spoke English to them just because we spoke Swedish among each other!

I need to divide the photos since I took so many so I'll focus today on our arrival day.

We took Norwegian's flight to Copenhagen and stayed luxuriously at the five-star-Hilton Copenhagen Airport Hotel next to the airport. Super comfortable since the underground took us to the center in just 12 minutes! And I must say - the best hotel breakfast I've ever had! I give the hotel full ten points for that!

We arrived in a sunny and glorious Copenhagen early Friday morning and headed straight to Nyhavn, the lovely harbor area with pastel color buildings, in which story teller and writer H.C.Andersen once lived. After seeing the harbor area, we walked along the beautiful seaside to the Little Mermaid. And yes, she was even smaller than I had imagined, but I'm happy I got to see her!

On the way back to the city center from the Little Mermaid statue, we saw a lot of enchanting buildings, buildings one would never see in Helsinki since they had this almost, correct me if I'm wrong, Dutchlike appearance! We stopped on the way to the city center for some delicious breakfast at café Amadeus! During this trip I really fell in love with Danish cheese!

When we finally reached the city center, we thought we deserved our very first Danish beer on Danish soil! Danish Carlsberg of course! I actually became quite a beer drinker in Copenhagen, even though I've never before been a fan of beer, but I guess the setting means everything! I guess it's true what they say ”Live in the country as they live or leave.”

I'm a soap bubble lover, so no wonder I found some even in Copenhagen!

We also managed to find a statue of dear H.C. Andersen so I got to pose with the story teller himself! Needless to say the first day in Copenhagen was wonderful!

We went back to the hotel to rest in the afternoon and later had dinner and drinks in Nyhavn, the colorful harbor area we visited in the morning! The fish and meat barbecue buffet there was really tasty, and the location was truly atmospheric! We nailed it!
