May all your weeds be wild flowers!

Helsinki, 20 degrees

I'm a true believer that one of a girl's best friends is a dress. If the dress has a floral pattern, the love relationship will never end. I happen to think that what we wear affects how we feel. Therefore it was vital for me to pick a dress for my first day back at work after my holiday that made me feel good. Flowers always cheer me up, I guess it's because I've dreamed of a flower shop since I was a child. I just feel that among flowers, no worries can be big enough to ruin my day. And even this time - flowers made my day!

The perfect weather of Indian Summer lengthened and lingered, warm sunny days were followed by brisk nights.

Helsinki, 20 degrees

Monday. Back at work after my holiday. What can I say? Need all the support I can get to adapt to work again. Daydreaming about an indian summer to follow this humid summer...

Our lives are like islands in the sea, or like trees in the forest, which co-mingle their roots in the darkness underground.

Helsinki, 26 degrees

This weekend Helsinki has been both hot and humid! That's why me and my boyfriend headed today for brunch to an island called Skifferholmen (Liuskasaari in Finnish) where one finds restaurant Skiffer - known for the best pizzas in town! It is also known for the fact that it has a gas station for boats located next to it, and it has a wicked Wednesday club night called Club Cabin, how cute.

Helsinki, 18 degrees

When you realize how perfect everything is you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky.

Helsinki at its best. Great day spent with friends. It's 10.30pm and there is still 18 degrees. Beautiful colorful ever so powerful sky. My love is home. Light mind. I love you Helsinki!

How has your day been?

Coffee Cup View

Helsinki, 18 degrees

As soon as coffee is in your stomach, there is a general commotion. Ideas begin to move...similes arise, the paper is covered. Coffee is your ally and writing ceases to be a struggle.

Glistening water. Sea breeze. Warm rays of sun. This Tuesday Helsinki woke up for once sunny, so I decided to spend most of my day outside. I got inspired by a note in a magazine telling about Coffee Cup View, a website dedicated to images of coffee cups all over the world. The slogan for the website is "See the world through another coffee lover's eyes."

I thought it was an interesting way to perceive the world, and when I only found three photos taken in Helsinki, I thought it was my duty as a coffee and Helsinki lover to take my very own photo and add it to the website. I'm still waiting for the website maintenance to accept it to the website, but I'll show it to you nevertheless. This is how beautiful Helsinki looked today from my point of view, with an ice cold chocolate frappe with double espresso. Heaven!

These were the other three photos of coffee with a view in Helsinki that already existed on the website.

Are you a coffee lover? What kind of view would you like to show from your city over a coffee cup?

A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed...It feels an impulsion...this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.

On a rainy Monday like this one, what's better than catching up on some reading?

We're all going on a summer holiday - No more working for a week or two

Helsinki, 18 degrees

On Friday afternoon, at around 3pm to be precise, the second part of my holiday started! I have two whole weeks to free my mind of work and just enjoy life!

My holiday got its "kick off" yesterday when I celebrated one of my very good friends' birthday! My dancing shoes sure were in for a good ride! I had so much fun!

I used my pink lipstick yesterday and was amazed at the fact that an around 45-year-old lady (that I didn't know) told me that she liked my lipstick shade in a supermarket queue! How nice is that? That put a smile upon my face! And people say these things never happen in Finland - I just proved you wrong!

I'll keep you posted about my holiday adventures..what is your favorite holiday song? Since I finally have time to listen to music, give me some hints!!??

Linnanmäki Amusement Park

Helsinki, 18 degrees

There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds.

The answer to my question is of course Helsinki's number 1 attraction with over one million visitors a year - Linnanmäki amusement park! An annual highlight is when one of my friends who lives in Australia comes back home with her family, and seeing as she is here now, this time we decided to spend a summery Tuesday together at the amusement park. I must admit, even though we went with my boyfriend in the beginning of June to Tivoli in Copenhagen, I'm not really an amusement park goer. I mean, like everyone else, I used to go to Linnanmäki many times a year as a child, but lately I've gone once a year at the top. This time it had actually been two summers since I had been there, but I can tell you I liked it a lot!

I dared to go to most of the rides I had the time to go to, except the ones where I would have hanged with my head downward, so I was proud of that. Having been to some parks in Italy, Sweden and Denmark and being able to compare it with those, I must say, I'm very proud of Linnanmäki! It's my favorite among them all since it has this unique feel to it due to its compact form!

Like you saw from my earlier post, cotton candy is a must when one visits Linnanmäki, but I think the meter-long-liquorice is another as well!

This year's novelty at Linnanmäki, meaning in English literally Castle Hill, is the cuisine world Kattila (in English: the pot) with six different restaurants under one roof! Since I love food, this was definately the one thing I wanted to see the most this year at the park. The restaurants offer everything from Finnish food and meatballs to sushi and Greek hamburgers, and I think they are of high standard for being in an amusement park. In fact, the blog Dobbernationloves even says: "I do think it is safe to say that with the arrival of Kattila, Helsiniki’s Linnanmaki offers the highest quality dining experience at any theme park, the world over."

How important is the food for you when you visit a theme / amusement park?

My favorite time of the year to visit Linnanmäki is in the fall actually when it organizes the so called Carnival of Lights. Since the evenings at that time are already a little bit darker, the rides are beautifully lit and one can actually see the light thanks to the darkness. The magical atmosphere at Linnanmäki is so tangible at that time!

What do you think are the best features in an amusement park?

Cotton candy, laced in gold. Stack that money, sushi roll. Bottles up, feeling throw'd. V.I.P it, overload.

Clowns wear a face that's painted intentionally on them so they appear to be happy or sad. What kind of mask are you wearing today?

Helsinki, 21 degrees

Since you readers liked my recent post about next autumn's fashion so much, I thought I would share some more outfits and looks that have caught my attention.

I don't think anybody who has seen Maison Martin Margiela's autumn / winter collection 2012 can forget it due to its unique masks, or what do you think?

I think the silk and lace dresses are stunning, with amazing details, but I can't get my eyes off the masks, they are so misterious.

Emerald inspiration

Helsinki, 20 degrees

Summer has now thrown open her emerald doors. Every part of the landscape is profuse in leaves and flowers, and green-robed senators of mighty woods are clothed in their most elegant array.

This Saturday morning while reflecting on the work week that has passed by I find myself thinking about one color above others: emerald. Helsinki is at its most beautiful summery state when there's different shades of green everywhere you look, so one can't help but get inspired by this color!

What do you think about my emeraldy outfit: Asos' dress and H&M's scarf used as a headband?

I even been thinking about bringing some more green into our apartment, at least in the form of plants. Right now we only have a couple, but it would be nice to add some green to our interior. What do you think about using green in interior decor?

This week passed by in the blink of an eye! Yesterday I was radio interviewed thanks to my work which was exciting since I hadn't been to radio studio before. Last year the radio interviews that I made were recorded at my work place, but yesterday's interview was broadcasted live so that was something completely different! Even though I think it went well, I know I forgot to say half of the things I had planned to say, haha. It's always been difficult for me to talk shortly and concisely. You can listen to the interview and read about it here (in Swedish).

How has your week been so far?

Sometimes, in a summer morning, having taken my accustomed bath, I sat in my sunny doorway from sunrise till noon, rapt in reverie.

Helsinki, 25 degrees

Like I've mentioned before, summer is also all about daydreaming - this time about future fashion trends! As many of you dear readers know, I'm a very girly girl, so no wonder I fell in love with Versace's Atelier Haute Couture Autumn 2012 collection! Look at these hems! The Versace hairstyle perfected the Veronica Lake over-the-eye curl, softening the looks with its classicism.

The scarf kind of fashion trend isn't going anywhere if you ask Versace!

Besides the amazing hems, I think the body parts of these dresses have been made with true care and I hope to see more of these kinds of bodies in stores also here in Helsinki!

From autumn's colorful dresses to sophisticated autumn / winter 2012 outfits by Dior. These with our very own Finnish Suvi Koponen (on the left)! So proud of her! Stunning dresses in red!

I liked the fact that the collection introduced these pantsuits which at first glance look like dresses, but when you look at them more carefully, you realize that they are actually put together with a top and trousers! I hope to see more of these, something fresh and new!

Finally, Dior's collection offered stunning dresses with interesting prints! And a black suit on a women with red lipstick is never wrong!

Chanel's fall / winter 2012 collection was full of surprises! Out of these three collections, this one had the most surprises actually, if you ask for me. Since this summer has been all about fashion trends returning and a kind recycling of trends, Chanel's collection offers true novelties! Or what do you say about the berets that you see on these models? I think they are super cute!

Funny enough, shoes with metallic toes stay in fashion also this fall!

Apparently glimmering tights are a big thing this fall! I thought these lose sleeves were interesting as well, something I hadn't seen before. What do you think about them?

This violet outfit caught my eye since it was so different. It looks like it's made out of sequin, don't you think?

I love this romantic baby red dress with roses attached to it!

The show stopper was truly worth its title - I mean, look at this white dress! She looks like an ice princess, just beautiful! I like the fact that feathers are returning as a trend as well. It hasn't really become a big thing yet, it passed by some time ago, but I think it's time for it to get a bigger role in this autumn's fashion!

What are you waiting for the most clothing wise concerning this fall?
