A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed...It feels an impulsion...this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.

Helsinki, 16 degrees

On a rainy Monday like this one, what's better than catching up on some reading?

This month's Trendi magazine presents some of the styles worth noticing in July. I reacted on these fun caftans that as lighter versions, at least the tranlucent overdresses, are suitable and comfortable summertime.

Caftans are variants of the robe or tunic, versions that have been worn by countless cultures around the world for thousands of years. The caftan is mainly associated with Islamic cultures and have been worn as court robes; the splendor and specific decorations of the caftan indicated the rank of the wearer. Sovereigns often gave ornate kaftans as a mark of favor. This is why I especially like the silk alternants of caftans.

Do you own a caftan? When do you use it?

Another piece of clothing presented this month is the basic top, and how to wear it. My favorites are the boxer style tops, but I'm also fascinated with the whole black style one finds on this page's lower right corner: a black silk top with a black skirt with sequin decorations.

Last week, during my last week at work before going on holiday, I was delighted over this page showing what to wear to work during summer. It reminded me of my post in May which you can read here, showing similar outfits and the shirt dress I have in white. I loved the idea of combining this shirt dress with some wedge sandals and a blazer.

Shorts are of course true summer essentials! I like how here three styles are presented: work, shopping and party. To work I like the idea of wearing a collar shirt with a blazer and combining that to shorts. When going shopping on the other hand, the most important thing is that the outfit is comfortable, don't you think?

When wearing shorts to a party or when going out in the evening, it's important to remember that simply by using a festive top or the right accessories, shorts can become even they festive.

Last but not least, summer is in my opinion all about flower scents, especially the scent of roses! Let the dazzling rose take care of both your skind and mind. Even though I use Dior's J'adore perfume the rest of the year, during summertime I think the misty rose scent is the perfect romantic choice for summer.

In Divaani magazine the interior color sceme for July - August was presented. I thought the minty and white colors used in this room's interior was super fresh! I liked the most the shoe boxes and suitcases, as well as the mirrors, photo frames and pillows.

I have lately bought some new photo frames to us and decorated the shelves above our bed and next to our windows. As you can see, I've tried to use black and white in both places, but with a hint of blue and violet next to our bed, and green in our living room. I've recently also come to the conclusion that a home needs a lot of green in it and we bought some new flowers and plants last week. I feel I'm quite happy with the result.

Thanks to Glorian Ruoka & Viini magazine I was inspired by these cute cloud related drinks, desserts and fondue! I thought the drink made out simple water with blueberries and herbs sounded wonderful! The dessert in this picture is made by mixing ice cream, white chocolate, marshmallows and meringue. Easy, but sounds so delicious!

On this spread I liked the camembert cheese fondue on the right with cloud formed cauliflower for dipping. The cheese is merely put in the oven for a while and then some oil and rosemary is put on the top to give some additional taste.

Who can resist these cookies made out of short crust pastry and lemon flavored unripened cheese? Or how about these vodka martinis with some cotton candy? Perfect for summer parties!

What are your July favorites clothing, food, interior and scent wise?

    1. I've been great, I was busy working while you were on holiday and now it's my turn :) What kind of magazines do you have?
Yeah, 16 degrees probably sounds cold for you, but during daytime here we do have around 20 degrees, so it's okay. Of course we're waiting for warmer days, but it might be that this summer in whole Northen Europe will stay like this. Such a huge difference from last year, when we had around 35 degrees, haha!
