Life’s a game, all you have to do, is know how to play it. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.
Like I promised, here is a post dedicated to the filming I joined in on yesterday. I and four of my colleagues join in to represent Finland in a fun TV game that will air on a Norwegian talk show named "Senkveld med Thomas og Harald" later on this fall. Apparently the two Norwegian hosts travel around Europe to challenge famous Norwegians in different fun local games.
Since they were in Helsinki yesterday, the game they wanted to participate was the Finnish game called wife carrying, in Finnish eukonkanto. This game like the name says basically involve some men carrying women on their back while making through an obstacle course - sounds like fun, huh? We Finns are so crazy about this game that we even organize the world championships in it.
Of course, according to the theme, I and my colleagues had to be dressed to the occasion, in traditional Finnish dresses.
We were divided into two teams of two "couples" on each team and the idea was that the team that made the course the fastest won. We won't know the true winner until the TV show airs later on this fall, but I'm quite sure we had it in the bag! My team had the TV show presenters, after all..
It was so much fun to work with the Norwegians, it's always a heartwarming experience when one gets to work with people from the other Nordic countries - a true Nordic atmosphere one might say!
The obstacle course of about 100 meters that we had built next to the stunning Töölönlahti Bay in the green heart of Helsinki consisted of parts on the ground, in the forest and in the water! There was a lot of running involved and no one was left dry! It was so much fun! Definitely an experience I will remember for life!
Have you ever heard about this game? What fun game would represent your country the best?
