January inspiration: white kitchens & emerald clothing

The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.

This week has been all about preparations. Preparations for my sis' upcoming wedding and preparations for the biggest travel event in Helsinki: Matka - the annual Nordic Travel Fair!

However, to continue my mood board  for January, I wanted to present some things that have inspired me this month.

This month I've been widely inspired by white kitchen tables. As you have seen in my earlier blog posts, we have a black dining table in our living room, but since we now in our apartment have a kitchen that could actually fit a table, I've been dreaming about a white side table. Keep your fingers crossed, it might be that we'll get one soon if everything goes according to plans! Like in the picture above, our kitchen is completely white. But you'll see more details about our kitchen once the table issue has been resolved.

Furthermore I've been inspired by emerald clothing. When I heard it was the trend color of the year, I didn't realize that it would turn up in a variety of shades and texture. How exciting! I love this photo with three different styles in emerald, especially the dress to the right.

We visited Ikea on Tuesday and picked up a set of white towels for our bathroom and metallic handles for the kitchen. Can you believe that we've managed to live two and a half months with no handles in our kitchen? This just because we haven't been able to set our minds on the right ones, but I'm super pleasure with these Metrik handles from Ikea. I also love the towels since white towels really lighten up our otherwise mint color bathroom!

Concerning what I'll wear at my sis' wedding, as many of you readers have been asking me about it, I've decided to go with a nude color dress. First, I got excited about ivory colored dresses since I found these two stunning photos of bridesmaids to brides with lace wedding dresses (seeing as I've seen my sis' dress and it's a lace heaven). However, I found that a nude/slightly baby red dress is more romantic. These two photos above have functioned as my inspiration while searching for a bridesmaid dress. My dress isn't this long though, it's about knee-length. But don't worry, you'll see it eventually! It's now less than three weeks left to my sis' wedding!

Finally, this week's biggest inspiration has been the Matka - Nordic Travel Fair since it will be my working place for the next two days! Matka 2013, the largest travel industry event in Northern Europe, fits the whole world into the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre from 17 to 20 January. In the lower left corner you can see our impressive Helsinki stand being built up! See you there?

What's your opinion?

  1. That sounds awesome. I am sure you will have a great time! Loving the emerald inspiration as well :)

  2. oh how beautiful those emerald colour pieces are! gorgeous! I really wish I would find something emerald while thrifting. so far I unfortunately haven't.
btw, we actually have a white table with matching chairs that used to be in our old living room. though it's quite big and don't fit anywhere right now.
good luck with your searches, Elisabeth!

    1. Yeah I'm loving emerald big time right now! You're right, it's been difficult to find emerald pieces while thrifting. But maybe our luck will change? :)
