You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.

Helsinki, 0 degrees

Continuing my yellow fever, I took my yellow blazer (that I presented in a previous blog post here) out on the town on Monday when I joined in on my University of Applied Sciences', Arcada's, alumni meeting for bachelors in tourism at café Fanny.

It was fun to meet familiar faces but also to extend my network within the field of tourism by meeting new people who have studied the same as I and now work in the field (among others in hotels, restaurants, cafés, the wine industry, marketing, flight companies, incoming agencies and catering companies). Among the 50 alumnis present, there were people that has started to study tourism about ten years before me, but also some that were two years younger than me.

I look back at my study time with a smile upon my face because I enjoyed those three and a half years very much. I have only pleasant memories from Arcada. I met great people, learned a lot about tourism - a field of work I truly love, partied a lot, traveled with my class to China, went on exchange and work practise to Italy and managed to finish my studies in time!

Thanks to this, I'm always happy to meet my former teachers since they are people I've always looked up to because they have a solid background in tourism and are true experts in the field.

Are you a part of any alumni activity? How do you look back on your years of study?

    1. One should definately have a high school reunion despite of FB. It's still something completely different to see people in person!

  3. oh, your yellow blazer indeed looks so pretty and reminds me of warm sunshine :) I also like the collar, such a cool combo between those two unique pieces.
anyway, nope, no alumni activity for me. my work and house and pets and garden and workout (and etc...) take most of my time. my brain has to do a lot anyway so I don't really need something in addition, hehe. but I'm definitely glad you enjoyed the event!
