Light blue collar shirt, white biker jacket and Helsinki Day

Helsinki, 17 degrees

When you look at a city, it's like reading the hopes, aspirations and pride of everyone who built it.

After several exceptionally hot weeks, Helsinki has this week mainly had quite typical summery weather - rain that is. Summer rain is different than any other kind of rain since it's still warm and kind of romantic. I've been busy at work, but once again I've had the absolute pleasure of meeting the most inspiring and fun people! This week we've been celebrating the Helsinki Week so the city has been filled with exciting events! My loyal companions for this week have been my two new purchases: my light blue collar shirt and white biker jacket.

As many of you readers know, I've been obsessed with light blue collar shirts for some time now. I've been seeing them everywhere, but I've had trouble with finding the perfect one for me. I love light blue collar shirts in the summertime, they're just so effortlessly elegant and comfortable at the same time. With black jeans, the light blue collar shirt can radiate a sense of rock spirit whereas with a skirt it becomes very sharp. What do you think of light blue collar shirts?

Another obsession of mine has been white biker jackets. The white version is so much more luminous than the common black one. I think a white biker jacket can bright up any outfit! Have you fallen for white biker jackets already?

I was thrilled when I finally found my light blue collar shirt from Jackpot! It so comfortable since it's a cotton shirt but doesn't wrinkle that easily. I've combined it with my favorite jeans right now, the white ones. I also found this amazing white biker jacket on Asos! Even though people think Finns don't talk that much, I've actually got compliments for the jacket even from shop assistants! The jacket is made from breathable, silky woven fabric and has silver-tone studs. I love its asymmetric zip fastening!

I've been so madly in love with this jacket that I took it on me when we celebrated Helsinki's birthday last Wednesday with a huge picnic in the city center! It was a fun idea, to turn the Esplanade Park, also known as the catwalk of Helsinki, into a huge picnic setting!

The streets that usually are busy with cars, were now set with tables! What a difference it made!

I had queued for 45 minutes at the town hall to get me and my friends some table reservations - but it was worth it! It was a truly unique experience in the city I've lost my heart to. I brought a cheesecake from a local bakery called Kakkukeisari with me, it was delicious!

This is truly how the Helsinki Day should be celebrated! Long live Helsinki (that was founded back in 1550)!

  2. My city isn't important enough for us to remember the date of it's founding. I had to look it up, it's 1831.

  3. What a great notion to celebrate your city, we have something similar called Heritage Day to celebrate the national cultures and people. That cheesecake looks so yum! Love your white biker, is such a chic and sophisticated piece.

  5. gosh how behind I am when it comes to reading blogs (and blogging myself, unfortunately) but I guess celebrating my birthday has something to do with it, hehe. anyway, I really enjoyed that post and your light summery ensemble. you know I like light blue shirts and I think this shirt makes your outfit pop! and the jacket! it indeed is one beautiful and actually even cute studded jacket. such a great choice from you. btw, I have been thinking what to wear on Tuesday when we come to Helsinki. pants or skirt or dress... I have no idea :P oh and I also wanted to say I like your new header and layout! great job!
