The sunny island

Helsinki, 25 degrees

And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.

After a wonderful week spent on "the sunny island", which I'll fill you in on in future blog posts, I have finally returned home to Helsinki and I wanted to switch the focus on to you readers and ask you what a perfect summer holiday is in your opinion. Are you a person who loves traveling: city breaks and cultural trips, or do you head to the beach for your summer holidays? Or do you rather stay at home and relax? Or visit other cities in your country? When do you start planning for your holiday? Do you like to plan ahead or do something spontaneously?

What's your opinion?

  1. I do love travelling but I have to have the right feelings to do it.. for example we were thinking about going to Bulgaria in August but then, the day before we wanted to buy the tickets I started feeling like I don't actually want to go. and we probably will not, at least not this year.
beach.. I go there maybe a couple of times a year. I just enjoy sunbathing in my garden more and it's comfy to simply step out and sunbath (don't have to drive anywhere etc.). when it comes to holidays overall we don't plan too much because for example a lot depends on the weather. and in Estonia the distances are rather short anyway so you don't have to worry about planning. oh and our vacations ALWAYS include a lot of work at home (gardening, building etc).
btw, thank you for the lovely comment and yes, of course we would love to visit the zoo next time :) and I didn't know about the swan so I will remember that now. maybe we will go to the zoo in Riga during our next vacation. I have heard some great things about it. have you been there?

    1. Oh, that's interesting. What kind of feeling are you meaning? I would love to hear more about your pre-traveling feelings.
I enjoy sunbathing on our balcony as well! I'm definitely not the kind of person who needs to go to the beach, but this year it felt like the right thing :)
Interesting to hear about how weather conditions affect your domestic traveling. My boyfriend has a lot of hobbies during the weekends, so we need to plan ahead if we want to spend the weekends together.
Believe me, my vacation will also include lots of work at home! :)
No, I've never been to Riga but I've heard lovely things about the city!

  2. Hi sweety, hope you had a wonderful and relaxing trip, can't wait to hear about it. I love tours and not beach vacations. I prefer exploring cities and lush countrysides with beautiful scenery.

    1. Hi Sam! Thank you, I did. I feel totally relaxed now and the best part is that I'm still off this week :) Today's post was about the beach resort we went to, but we also visited a beautiful city and amazing countryside on the way to the volcano Etna, and I'll write about those in upcoming blog posts!
