Trend alert: stripes

Stripes are like color, you can turn the volume up or down - whether you wear it head-to-toe or mixed with a solid.

Holiday days pass by rapidly. I guess that is how it is when one is enjoying oneself. It feels luxurious waking up and having breakfast in peace, without having to hurry anywhere. Spending time at home with one's loved one is also one of this life's joys, as we in this way get to spend quality time together and plan together things like e.g. what to eat and how to decorate our home. Personally, I've also been looking for my very own piece with a geometrical pattern ever since I wrote about this fashion trend in my blog post back in January. Those of you readers who missed it, you can see the blog post here. Above, I've been looking for some perfect stripes. And I've finally found them! Have a look!

Many of you might remember that my all time favorite striped piece has been my striped jacket. Those of you who've missed it, you can get a glimpse of it here. But besides the jacket, I've been looking for a simple top and dress that could be used at many occasions thanks to their versatility.  This season stripes have been seen in all kinds of forms, which has been your favorite?

Besides striped clothing, I've also been fascinated with striped interior design! I mean, how chic isn't striped decor? The best feature with stripes is that they never go out of fashion, and they brighten up at least my mood! One can not be grumpy wearing stripes! And when one is happy, people around you are happy!

Ever since my boyfriend surprised me back in May with taking the first steps towards decorating our balcony, I have been wanting to show you how I've decorated it. The ones of you who missed the first steps, can see them here.

Since the balcony decor includes stripes, I thought this would be the ideal occasion to show it to you readers. I know some of you have been asking about it already, so here it is! I've now added textiles, plants and cushions and I love the result! I found the pillowcases in second hand shops, the plants in Kodin 1, and the striped fabric for the balcony at IKEA. The candle holder house is from Riviera Maison. The balcony is now a serene place where I e.g. love to read and relax in general!

My outfit set on the balcony is based on pieces bought from H&M: a striped top and some black jeans. Simple, but it works!

My striped dress is of more a classic model than the top I've showcased above. I found it at Lindex, and combined it with leggings from Vila. I love these leggings, they are the absolute best I've ever worn!

I took this dress out on a walk when we spent a beautiful summer day at the Kumpula Botanic Garden with my boyfriend. This garden is located quite close to our home, so it's ideal for summery exurcions. I felt like a hobbit in this verdant surrounding, and I wanted to share with you some of the floral beauty I stumbled upon in the garden! The ones who follow me on Instagram might have seen these photos already.

  4. yeah, I also like stripes. and I have them in my wardrobe.. big time! for example one of my fave dresses and one of my fave sweaters, both thrifted and both striped. and yes, stripes can totally bright up any casual look. by the way, I like your striped top and how it matches the wall next to you. you should post more photos of the balcony. I would love to see the big picture, the whole :)
keep enjoying your holidays, Elisabeth! (and thank god it's Friday and tomorrow is off from work :P)

    1. The wall is actually made out of a piece of fabric we found at Ikea. We wanted something special for our balcony, and we think the stripes give it a maritime appeal. Thank you for your feedback Maiken, I will have to make another blog post about the balcony :)
