A true friend is someone who thinks you are a good egg, even though he knows you are slightly cracked.

This is a blog post I wrote some time ago, when I sat down and reflected over what true friendship is. Over the years I've had many friends. Childhood friends, school friends, work friends, blog friends. But I've also lost friends and I can tell you - that is one the worst kinds of pain a person can experience.

I've always loved meeting new people, and getting new friends, but now at this age and/or after certain bad experiences I have noticed that letting people come close has become harder. It's important to also guard and take care of yourself. Many people live in the illusion that one's friends can help you get over any obstacles - but I believe that we do that ourselves. If we don't believe in ourselves, nobody else will.

So stay strong and believe in your strengths! Foster them and you'll see that good things will come your way! These fun photos from last summer always makes me smile so I wanted to share them with you on Valentine's Day that we Finns call Friend's Day!

I think the Finnish rap artist Cheek is right (even though originally this saying comes from no other than James Bond) when he says that diamonds are forever! And these girls sure are diamonds, let me tell you! Having said this, have you heard Finnish rap music before? I don't listen to it that often, but sometimes it just what I need!

Happy Valentine's Day to all you readers!

Ihanaa ystävänpäivää teille lukijoille!

  4. I and my best friend unfortunately grew apart when we both moved. we used to do everything together since childhood and during my university years and then it was over. I guess things like that happen for a reason although I have no idea what reason that was :) anyway, it was a lovely post and Valentine's Day is actually a pretty sweet day. especially now when I'm not a child anymore and know exactly who are the most important people in my life :)

    1. I'm so sorry to hear that Maiken, I really understand how that feels since I've gone through something similar. We just need to trust in the fact that there is a meaning with it all, and that we are meant to continue meeting great people in our life.
