Restaurant Day in May

Helsinki, 23 degrees

An optimist is a man who plants two acorns and buys a hammock.

What a weekend! You might remember my blog post from last year (if not, you'll find it here) telling about one of the most eventful weekends that Helsinki has in the beginning of the summer season! This weekend occured last week, when we had among others the following events in town.

Mikä viikonloppu takana! Muistatte varmaan viime vuotisen blogikirjoitukseni, jossa kerroin Helsingin kevään tapahtumarikkaimmasta viikonlopusta.

Out of these events I visited Arabia's Urban Festival, Restaurant Day, the Abattoir's Summer Opening and the Hanami Celebration! This blog post is dedicated to the Abattoir's Summer Opening! It was wonderful with the whole courtyard filled with Fatboy's Buggle-up sacks, parasols, tents, hammocks, sun beds and fun decorations! I enjoyed some goodies, like organic cookies and Harjun Makkaratehdas' yummy lamb sausages as well as Raikastamo's delicious lemonade!

I also visited Tuoretori, located inside the Abattoir, for the first time and I must say that I can't wait to go back - it had such a great selection of Finnish foodie treats like rye bread, chocolate, cheese, vegetables, juices and berry delicacies!

On this sunny Saturday, I wore a sequin top that matched with its gold and silver sequins my grey jeans (seen for instance in this blog post).

Aurinkoisena lauantaina minulla oli päällä paljettitoppi, jonka stailasin harmaiden farkkujen kaveriksi. Farkut näette mm. tässä blogikirjoituksessa.

What kind of events would you like to visit Helsinki for? Do you ever travel for events?

Mikä tapahtuma saisi teidät tulemaan Helsinkiin? Matkusteletteko tapahtumien perässä?

What's your opinion?

  1. Hi, Elisabeth! I'm back from very hectic weeks, to posting and commenting! I do remember the pictures from last year and this year your pictures are even livelier! Such a great and summery atmosphere - it has been only raining here... I like your sequined top very much! denisesplanet.com

  2. That's definitely a great amount of events! Helsinkians surely know how to enjoy late Spring. The pictures made me think that I should definitely store a load of Finnish chocolate when I manage to get back there. Nice outfit as well :)

    Take care!

  7. nope, I don't travel especially for events. at least so far I haven't done it. if I want to visit an event (mostly some fairs) I do it here in Estonia since our summer season offers so many of those. and your photos actually reminded me of our own festivals. so much colours, people, stuff happening everywhere. I definitely have to visit a fair sometime soon!
