#heleats dinner at #HelsinkiSecret Residence

A Wednesday evening, birthday & residence. One city, the one & only Helsinki - seven courses - eight people & lifestories -> an endless amount of tastes, culture collisions and memories. This was the recipe for the delicious dinner surprise I put together two weeks ago for work!

Keskiviikkoilta, syntymäpäivä & residence -kaupunkikoti. Yksi kaupunki, rakas kotikaupunkini Helsinki - seitsemän ruokalajia - kahdeksan illallistajaa & elämäntarinaa -> loputon määrä makuja, yhteentörmäyksiä ja muistoja. Tässä parin viikon takaisen yllätysillallisen, jonka järjestin työni puolesta, resepti!

With the help of two of our main partners, Aallonkoti Apartment Hotel & the #heleats boys and the #HelsinkiSecret Residence's Local Friends' Network (Kathrin, Jerry & Kea), I organized a spontaneous birthday dinner for our residents of the week - Laura from Italy (birthday girl) & Lance from the US. The dinner was prepared right in front of our eyes, which made it even more special. The chef Joona is a pro in the kitchen with experience from the top notch restaurants and also being a member of Culinary Team Finland!

Kahden pääkumppanimme, huoneistohotelli Aallonkodin ja #heleats -poikien, ja #HelsinkiSecret Residencen Local Friends -verkoston (Kathrin, Jerry & Kea) avulla järjestin spontaanin syntymäpäiväillallisen viikon asukkaille - italialaiselle Laura (syntymäpäiväsankari) ja amerikkalaiselle Lancelle. Illallinen valmistettiin suoraan meidän silmien edessä, mikä teki siitä vielä erityisemmän. Kokkimaajoukkueessa toimiva Joona on todella pro keittiössä!

We enjoyed the best flavors of Helsinki through a #heleatsmenu, and the company of each other of course. Needless to say, it was a night to remember, something I'll add to the list of things I need to be grateful for. Definitely something to think back to with a great smile upon my face.

Nautimme Helsingin parhaimmista mauista #heleatsmenun muodossa, ja toistemme seurasta tietysti. On sanomattakin selvää, että muistan tämän illan ikuisesti, ja lisään sen ehdottomasti kiitollisuuslistalleni. Ilta, jota muistan hymyllä & lämmöllä.

Here’s the menu of the dinner (mine was a little bit altered due to my pregnancy & food restrictions) / Illan menu (omani oli hieman erilainen raskausajan ruokarajoitteiden takia):

Pickled kohlrabi, Metsuri cheese and salt cured egg yolk - kyssäkaalia, Metsuri -juustoa ja keltuista
Whitefish skin crisp, horseradish cream and rainbow trout roe - siikaa, piparjuurikreemiä ja mätiä
Celeriac soup with celeriac salt - juurisellerikeitto
Brown butter sauteed whitefish, sourmilk and cauliflower - siikaa, piimää ja kukkakaalia
Deer, roasted celeriac, marinated red onion and veal jus with red currant sauce - peuraa, juuriselleriä, punasipulia, vasikkaa ja punaherukkakastiketta
Yogurt parfait, lingonberry granola and caramel sauce - jogurttiparfee, puolukkagranola ja karamellikastiketta
Lingonberry-caramel macaron & tea - puolukka-karamelli macaron & teetä
