Nordic interior essential: knit stool

Helsinki, -2 degrees

Savor the throne, but don't mind the stool.

Commercial collaboration: Kiddow / Kaupallinen yhteistyö: Kiddow

For some time now, I've been looking for the perfect knit stool for our home because I've seen this type of stool in many Nordic interior magazines and on Pinterest, and I instantly thought that one would perfectly fit into our home. In addition, Irish Claire Anne O'Brien has inspired me with her cute knit stools, as well as Dutch Studio Joon and Jung with their amazing Cloud Stool. Thanks to the most known Finnish designer & architect of all time, Alvar Aalto and his iconic stool 60, I think a stool is something that every Finn should have in his/her home.

In comparison to ordinary stools, a knit stool is, in my opinion, softer and more comfortable so therefore cozier, even more, "hygge".

Tavalliseen jakkaraan verrattuna, niin kudottu jakkara on mielestäni pehmeämpi, mukavampi ja näin ollen viihtyisämpi, jopa "hyggempi".

I found it natural to place our new stool in my baby girl's nursery as right now, we're spending an increasing amount of time in that specific room. I was thrilled when I heard that Finnish clothing & interior brand Kiddow wanted to partner up with me on the blog because their pink M size knit stool is so cute! I think it fits nurseries, but also living rooms and other spaces - ideal for children and adults alike! It comes in pink & grey. Its pretty cover can be machine washed. My baby girl loves the stool & its texture - for her it's perfect to exercise on & help her slowly learn how to stand independently.

Kiddow was founded in 2014 when one of the founders was blessed with a baby boy. Suddenly, the world of children's clothing & interior became familiar and more interesting, and the rest is history.

Kiddow sai alkunsa vuonna 2014, kun yksi yrityksen perustajista sai itse pienen pojan. Yhtäkkiä lastenvaate- ja sisustusmaailma tuli tutuksi ja alkoi kiinnostamaan yhä enemmän.

As I've mentioned before, in this earlier blog post, creating the perfect nursery is kind of a never-ending story as I seem to always stumble upon things that I would like to add to it - just to make it perfect. Right now, my baby girl's nursery has a play tent as its centerpiece because she's sleeping next to us in our bedroom so her crib is there. We are also still waiting for her second new play rug, so right now we like to cozy up in this tent, where I can read stories and rhymes for her and we can listen to music in. Once the rug has arrived and she's sleeping in her own room, I think the tent will move to our balcony. In the summertime, it will be nice to play in a tent there. It might appear in her room also from time to time.

Kuten olen aikaisemmin maininnut, tässä aikaisemmassa blogikirjoituksessa, niin täydellisen lastenhuoneen kokoaminen on hauskaa puuhaa koska törmään jatkuvasti ihaniin tavaroihin, joita haluan huoneeseen lisätä. Juuri tällä hetkellä tyttöni huoneen keskipiste on leikkiteltta.

Have you seen knit stools like this before? What do you think about them? Yay or nay?

Oletko törmännyt vastaaviin kudottuihin jakkaroihin? Mitä mieltä olet niistä? Hyvä vai huono?

What's your opinion?

  1. I think you have created such a beautiful place for your daughter. everything in there looks carefully thought out and special. I especially love that old chest and if I had a piece like that in my own home I would probably make it lighter with a little DIY project :) because lately I've really started to like white furniture. anyway, your new knit stool looks perfect next to everything else in the room and yes, I have heard about those stools. it's a lovely idea! especially in your little one's room because it's soft and cosy.

    1. Thank you so much Maiken for your kind words! The chest is actually my mother's dowry chest that I inherited, so it's quite special for me. We have thought about painting it black again, but otherwise we will not change it because my grandfather has made it back in the days for my mother.

  2. Moikka!

Milloin olet ostanut tuon Kiddow jakkaran?
